This workshop is designed to help the Employers Return to Work Coordinator navigate the injury management process and get injured employees back to work successfully. This course combines Implementing a Written Workers Compensation Return to Work Program and Strategically Managing Injured Employees Post Accident.
This is a hands-on blended learning program to teach attendees the A – Z of Injury Management, we will cover everything from writing proactive policies, to working with treating physicians, to designing light positions to accommodating injured employee post-accident until they are able to return to their pre-injury job. We will address ADA, FMLA and specific state rules.

Module 2 – Creating an Effective Written Return to Work Program
This module answers the key questions what should we included in our written return to work policy and how do I disseminate the information throughout our organization.
- You will learn the 7 Essential Components of a successful return to work program and how to:
- Structure and implement pre-accident policies and procedures.
- Establish an injury management program that supervisors and employees will comply with.
The module will allow you to write the actual policies that will be included in your Return-to-Work Procedure Manual.
Module 3 – Federal Leave Laws – The Bermuda Triangle – Workers Comp, ADA, FMLA, HIPPA and the new GINA Regulations
This module will teach you how to coordinate the return to work process including how to:
- Conduct an effective job task analysis.
- Identify tasks compatible with assigned restrictions.
- Document the tasks and write a light duty job description.
- Spot permanent restrictions that can create ADA exposure.
- Write and implement post accident claims management policies and procedures.
Module 4 – Step by Step Process of Getting Injured Employees Back to Work
This program provides everything you need to know to protect your organization and return injured employees to work. We will use case studies to evaluate the complex nature of actually getting injured employees back in the workforce. We will review the recent legal cases and how they impact the return to work process. This is the practical application of what attendees learned in Modules 1 – 3.

Attendees must have a basic understanding of workers compensation injury management to completely benefit from this course.
